Is saw a few tents here so it definitely looks like you can camp. There are showers and water available. Tons of places to hang out under the trees or set up hammock. Water is a little silty here so not the best for swimming or snorkeling.

  Packaging and appearance

  The packaging differs from Energizer PPS700 only in size and model name. Pretty good branded packaging.

  Inside, insulated from transport hazards with a thick layer of foam rubber, lies the Energizer PPS320 portable power station itself and a box of dopas above it.

  In addition to it, everything you need is included: 60 watt PSU, Type-C cable, adapter from MC4 solar panel connectors to 2575 pins, cable for charging from the cigarette lighter, manual. It is worth noting that there is another version where the kit includes a wonderful 100w Towerwin solar panel, which I talk about both in the Energizer PPS700 review and in the review of the most powerful folding panel with Aliexpress Dokio 300w.

  The manual is huge and detailed.

  I strongly advise you to buy some decent solar panel, because these super power banks like Energizer PPS700 devices open up to their full potential with a solar panel, giving you true autonomy. The same conventional gasoline or diesel generator requires fuel. In the case of solar generators (technically incorrect, but well-established name), if you have a solar panel – then there is electricity. If there is no panel, then your autonomy will end immediately with the discharge of the generator.

  The panel actually gives out more, here the charging power is simply limited to 60 watts, no matter what it is charged with.

  This is my 4th solar generator and they are all made in the same suitcase form factor. They differ slightly, only in size, number of connectors and their location.

  The other two in the photo are Nitecore NES1200 and Energizer PPS700

  It can be seen that the flashlight is built-in only for models from Energizer, but it is correctly located only for PPS320

  However, the best ratio of sizes is conveyed by 2 photos below.

  What makes the Energizer PPS320 so special?

  First, the size. Here 230*130*202mm and 4. 1kg of weight. Its capacity, and hence the size, is significantly smaller compared to the older model and is completely lost against the background of the Nitecore NES1200, one of the most powerful and capacious power banks of this type on the market. However, if (I hope not “if”, but “when”) I get Energizer PPS3200, colossal in terms of power and capacity, then the Nitecore NES1200 will be lost

  Secondly, there is an LED panel on the side. Yes, the Energizer PPS700 can also work as a light source. But there the LED is much less bright and, most importantly, it is located in front, it is simply inconvenient for them to shine on the go.

  Here the LED panel is located on the end and there is no need to twist the hand, directing the light in the direction of travel.

  It gives good diffused light. There will be no range, but I am sure that in the case of a solar generator, the convenience of working close will be more important. There are 2 minuses here and they are common for manufacturers who are far from portable light.

  • Disgusting management. Namely:
    a) the light starts at maximum brightness, and not vice versa, as it should. In order not to go blind at night, you will have to press the LED panel towards you until you switch to the minimum brightness.
    b) SOS and strobe are not removed from the general line of modes and are after of lower brightness. In a good way, they should have separate access, for example, 2 quick clicks. You will hate the stroboscope after the first time it blinds you. If you need a good camping lantern, then see the review of Sofirn LT1S
  • The light is cold. Undoubtedly, 4000-5000k color temperature is much more pleasing to the eye. Again, however, the light is still not frankly cold, Energizer could, out of ignorance, turn something disgustingly cold, above 6500K.

  Everything else is unchanged.

  On the opposite side of the LED panel there is a cigarette lighter socket and a 220V socket.

  And I certainly would prefer that the socket also had a rubber plug, like the cigarette lighter socket.

  On the front and back panels there are something like protruding X’s with mirrored stripes on the sides. I will assume that the latter are needed as retroreflective elements and in the dark they will tell you where the PPS320 is located. Good decision.

  There are 2 groups on the front panel: input and output.

  If you are looking for perfection, then I think that the pin input should be placed between the 100 watt Type-C input and the 60 watt Type-C output. Why is it necessary? So you decide to charge the Energizer PPS320 in the dark and insert the cable coming out of the powerful type-c power supply not into the 100W input-output connector, but into the 60W OUTPUT. Not that the solar generator will break then, no. It will just beep, reporting an error, and turn off. But if it is possible to separate the same-looking entrance and exit, then it is better to do it. I also think that the outlines and letters could be printed with phosphorescent paint. However, no one bothers you to attach a couple of phosphorescent stickers yourself. I would stick one under inputs and another over outputs.

  Next to the 60w Type-C output are a pair of USB-A connectors with a total maximum power of 18 watts and a standard 11.2-14.6V/10A DC pin output. The fact that it shows error codes is not so important. It is important and convenient that the Energizer PPS320, like the Nitecore NES1200, shows the remaining operating time with the current load.

  The rest is the same: percentage of charge and connectors involved.

  Nitecore NES1200 and Energizer PPS700 have their own switch for each output type: USB, 220, DC. With the PPS320, all output connectors on the front panel are immediately available immediately after switching on. The second button starts only the 220v socket and cigarette lighter located on the side.

  The last thing I turn my attention to. Since the PPS700 is larger in size, it has a platform under the handle where you can put a charging smartphone. It’s really convenient. The PPS320 does not have this purely due to its size.

  Finally, the Energizer PPS320 can be taken apart. This will require a regular Phillips and torx screwdriver.

  I didn’t manage to disassemble completely, but I think that fans of electronic dismemberment will find something to say.

  LED panel is not very bright, could use plastic backing. But no – they made it out of metal, as it should. Well done.

  Unlike all my other solar generators, the Energizer PPS320 does not use an assembly of 18650 li-ion batteries, but LiFePo4.

  The disadvantage of the latter is lower specific energy consumption and currents (i.e. with the same size as Li-Ion, they will have less capacity and current).

  But they have another and very significant advantage – fire safety and durability. This battery can withstand 10 years or 2000 charge-discharge cycles before the capacity drops to 80%! A colossal indicator. Also, he is not so afraid of a deep discharge.

  Think again. You buy this solar generator when your child goes to the first grade, drive it (the generator) in the tail and mane all these 10 years, discharging and charging almost every day. And when the child graduates from school, the battery is still in perfect working condition..

  Another noteworthy point. This solar generator is disassembled to at least half. And it only has a few LiFePo4 batteries. Swapping them out for new ones when the time comes will be a lot easier than resoldering 50-60 18650 batteries in a Li-Ion based solar generator.

  Charging protocols

  All necessary charging protocols are supported, up to 20v PD

  100 watts are honest here. And this pleasantly surprised me. The same more powerful and capacious Energizer PPS700 solar generator is for some reason limited to 60 watts. Not enough for my laptop, one video card of which consumes 130 watts, I have to turn on 220v.

  Immediately 100 watts via Type-C allows you to fully work in reduced performance mode. Although, sorry, what 100 watts? The tester showed that the Energizer PPS320 turned off at 114 watts at the declared 100 and at 70 at the declared 60 watts for the second Type-C connector. Excellent result!

  Heating? There is no heating. The fans here do not even turn on, the external temperature of the case does not exceed 40 degrees.

  Charge and Discharge

  The Power Station will not draw more than 60 watts when charging via the DC pin.

  But the situation is better with Type-C PD. I already did a review of powerful GaN charger for smartphones – Ugreen GaN 100w. From it, the Energizer PPS320 takes the declared 100 watts

  No matter how I tried, I could not run a 100 watt charge through the tester to show the charging time in this fastest mode on the graph. But 100 watt discharge, and 60 watt charge / discharge failed.

  2. 5 hours under 100 watt load is an excellent indicator.

  The solar generator in this mode produces 280 watts*hours with the stated 320, a good result. It would be interesting to see how much it gives in 220v mode, but a smart socket with a watt * meter from aliexpress is only on its way to me.

  Power tests

  Let me remind you that we are promised 300 watts of power. But this still doesn’t mean anything, the same Energizer PPS700 holds almost 900 watts with the declared 700. The maximum that I managed to see in the PPS320 is 450 watts. The solar generator holds such power for about 5-7 seconds, then it is cut down due to overload.

  Stable Energizer PPS320 keeps 350 watts at 300 stated. At 7%, the 220v mode does not turn on, but the USB outputs work

  So, what can be powered from the solar generator from this review?

  For example, a drill. 250 watts, it is quite possible to use it, if it really shuts down. The video has an example of work. Although, of course, who would buy such a power plant for the sake of being able to connect a drill?

  Something less powerful? As it turned out, the Energizer PPS320 quite pulls the Indesit country refrigerator. Given the fact that it does not work constantly, the charge is much longer than the time on the display. But the old Soviet refrigerator, the compressor of which periodically jumped above 400 watts, worked unevenly.

  TV? Yes, it’s easy! 40 watts and 6 hours of operation from a full charge.

  The pool filter consumes about the same amount. It’s generally wonderful here – you can connect a solar panel and this portable power station with Aliexpress will not be discharged at all.

  Notebook? No problem.

  By the way, I recently did a review of a laptop from Aliexpress, a modern version of this model from teclast with a photo below. Both work with a bang, I recommend. Autonomy is excellent, sitting comfortably on a swing, typing texts.

  General impressions

  There is not the slightest point in considering the Energizer PPS320 as a source of electricity in case it is turned off at home or in the country. 300-plus watts of power here will only help not to defrost the refrigerator, but you can watch TV and work with a laptop. Not that it was not enough … But if we are talking about solar energy, then in such a situation it is more reasonable to have a powerful solar panel (here, see , the most powerful folding solar panel with Aliexpress) and a couple of car generators and a kilowatt inverter. And you can get by with gasoline, by the way.

  The Energizer PPS320 was designed as an energy source for caravanning. And, given the relatively small size and weight (relatively more powerful and capacious solar generators), it can even be a water bike. 4kg and a hundred watt panel should not be a big burden here. And that’s where he can help. You can charge absolutely everything from it: laptops, tablets, smartphones, navigators, drones, car refrigerators. In this regard, the Energizer PPS320 does exactly what is required – it gives you complete autonomy from electrical networks while traveling. The main thing is not to forget about the solar panel, without which its purchase is meaningless. Here, fortunately, the kit comes with an amazing solar panel, which I mention in the link to another panel above. It will allow you to quickly charge this solar generator and, moreover, use it while it is charging.

  The capacity and power here are significantly less than the older model. Well, the price here is 2 times less, Energizer PPS320 can be called an entrance ticket to the world of modern portable solar energy. The device is affordable for a much larger number of people than powerful and capacious models. And, unlike them, the LiFePo4 battery here will last you an incredibly long time and you can literally charge and discharge it daily for 10 years after purchase, and even then its capacity will only drop by 20%.

  As a result. If during fishing or hunting trips, savages on the sea-rivers, during rafting you want to have electricity for the purposes usual in such situations and you don’t want to spend too much, the PPS320 is quite suitable. And due to the huge service life, the price per kWh of its capacity may turn out to be even lower than that of more powerful and capacious models.
