Coqui del mar san juan: Availability – Gayest Hotel in Puerto Rico

About Us – Gay Hotel in San Juan Puerto Rico

He had me at Bonjour. It sounds cliché, but, we met in Paris – one Californian ex Coast Guard (Rob), and a Parisian local (Vianney). Vianney had him at Bonjour.  Rob had just finished 18 months at Le Cordon Bleu and was just starting studies at Le Cours Florent, an acting school in Paris (anything to keep the student visa).  Vianney had graduated from Le Cours Florent a few years previously, which they discovered over their first glass of wine.  The rest is history. 4 years later they were engaged.  They married in a château in Bordeaux …

Green friendly

After the devastating hurricane, we moved to Puerto Rico to take over our guesthouse and concentrate on not just recovery, but building something better. Something as gay as Paris, as tropical and fun as the people of Puerto Rico, and as sustainable and green-friendly that could rival any Californian hotel. Sure we have solar-heated water and we recycle, but we wanted to go further.  We created a community food share to reduce food waste (and allow guests a free selection of grocery items that others had left).  We also built rainwater cisterns and repurposed the clean water dripping from the air conditioners.  (The water now feeds our gardens and tropical plants).  We have completely eliminated single-use plastics.  And we offer free bicycles to encourage green transportation.  We offer an organic mango tree and herb garden for our guests.  We have further to go to be sure.

AND green friendly/420 friendly 🙂

When talking “Green friendly”, we’re not just referring to ecologically friendly…We are 420 friendly as well. We will even assist you in the steps necessary to obtain your medical marijuana card. Get your medical card a few days before you plan to arrive so that you can enjoy your vacation the way you want.   We allow outdoor consumption in designated areas. Never indoors (except for vaping).  The nearest dispensary to us is BWell; they sometimes recognize medical licenses from other states.  There are many other dispensaries, and with your medical card, you can go to any of them.  The medical examination is via phone/video call and takes just a few minutes. Within 24 to 48 hours, you have a license emailed to you.  Cost is typically less than $100 and is well worth it for the quality, safety and cost savings.  We do not permit illegal drugs on the property.

Get the tan you want:  Clothing optional

We are the only clothing optional guest house in San Juan.   After all, we lived in Europe too many years to care about tan lines.  Bathing suits are welcome, as are birthday suits.  We have a few rules to ensure your privacy and goodwill with the neighbors.  Post COVID, we will resume our weekly Saturday pool get togethers.  Daily passes are available for Saturdays, where you can enjoy our pool and jacuzzi or lounge room use from 10am to 7pm.   (this is suspended during COVID and awaiting new permits)

The Queerest Place in the Caribbean

Coqui del Mar is not just a place to sleep, but a place to gather and meet others. We are a queer-friendly place not just for gay men, but for the entire range of LGBTQIA, where all feel at home and welcome. Proud to come as you are. And where inhibitions fall away.  We actively support the LGBTQ+ community, participating in PRIDE, and we spearheaded and organized the first Winter Pride for Puerto Rico, now taking place the 2nd weekend of December annually. We are proud members of IGLTA, and sponsor GLAAD for their annual auctions. We have partnered with Go Naked from New York to host events at our guest house, and sponsor and participate in community events. For both 2019 and 2020 we have been nominated as the best Gay Inn worldwide by GayTravel.com  It is important for any business that wants to show support for the LGBTQ community to also learn, and we found this LGBTQ business guide helpful.    We are a safe place for all and especially would like to reach out to the transgender community… You are safe here.  You are welcome here.  You are family here.

Treating family with respect

As a guest of Coqui del Mar, you are welcomed as family.  All of our team come with a how can I help you attitude and we count ourselves lucky to have such a talented and fun crew.

We also believe in a fair minimum wage.  All of our staff earns at least $15 hourly and we never look to our guests to pay our employees via tips.  If you do feel inspired to tip an employee, feel free to do so directly with that person.  However, your room fee includes a fair salary so never feel obligated.

Love is Love and We Specialize in Same Sex Weddings

Rob is a licensed wedding celebrant in Puerto Rico, and we specialize in same-sex weddings, so ask us about our wedding packages. A wedding is about love, not money, and we can help you do something perfect for you within your budget.   Puerto Rico makes a perfect Destination Wedding and its easier than you might think to get married here.  Rob can hand walk you through the process so that you can relax (as much as is possible) and enjoy YOUR day together.  Use our list of resources to put together your own wedding plans, or look at our no stress packages.

The Argentine authorities named the cause of the sinking of the submarine “San Juan”

The Commander-in-Chief of the Argentine Navy said that the cause of the death of the submarine “San Juan”, which sank in November 2017 near the Atlantic coast of the country, was an explosion. The emergency was preceded by water entering the battery tanks, which led to a short circuit. Experts, for their part, admit that the submarine could have died due to falling to extreme depths.

The reason for the death of the submarine “San Juan” of the Argentine naval forces, which sank in November 2017 near the Atlantic coast of the country, was an explosion, according to Navy Commander David Bourdain. nine0003

He explained that the accident was preceded by water entering the storage tanks of the diesel-electric submarine, which led to a short circuit. According to Bourdain, sea water has leaked through valve E19, transmits FAN .

Combat diesel-electric submarine of the Argentine Navy TR-1700 “San Juan” in November 2017 went to sea from the base “Ushuaia”, located southwest of the Strait of Magellan on the island of Tierra del Fuego. The crew stopped communicating on 15 November. The vessel disappeared from radar off the coast of Argentina, 250 nautical miles (400 km) from Buenos Aires. nine0003

It is known that there were 44 people on board instead of the prescribed 37, and the “extra” seven people were not seafarers. Also on the submarine were two swimmers from the special forces unit of the Argentine Navy and an employee of the naval intelligence service.

A week later, in a 50-kilometer zone from the place of the last contact, a powerful jerky noise was recorded, which can be interpreted as the sound of an explosion.

“Information has been received that an anomalous, single, short, powerful non-nuclear event consistent with an explosion has occurred,” Argentine Navy spokesman Enrique Balbi said. nine0003

The San Juan was completely destroyed in an explosion within 40 milliseconds. The explosion, in terms of power, approximately equal to six tons of TNT, occurred at a depth of 400 m. It is worth adding that the maximum depth to which the San Juan dived before the disaster was 300 m.

Three days later, the head of the Argentine naval base at Mar del Plata, General Gabriel González, announced that he was resigning because of the submarine situation. It was Gonzalez who was responsible for communicating with the families of the missing crew of the submarine and for disseminating up-to-date information about the search for the ship. Later, the head of the Argentine fleet, Marcelo Eduardo Hipólito Srur, was also fired.

Last November, the Argentine authorities announced that the submarine had been discovered at a depth of more than 800 meters near the Valdes Peninsula on the Atlantic coast of Argentina. nine0003

The submarine was found by a ROV at one of the locations indicated by Ocean Infinity, a private American company that was hired by the Argentine government to search for the San Juan.

According to Argentine Defense Minister Oscar Aguada, raising the submarine from the bottom of the sea is “impossible due to the lack of technical and financial means” for such an operation.

At the same time, the Argentine Ministry of Defense even then restored a possible scenario for the death of the ship. nine0003

According to one version, the submarine was in distress for several hours.

At first, a fire could have broken out on board, which the crew dealt with. For repairs, the San Juan was forced to surface.

After that, the submarine submerged to follow to the destination base. However, already under water, a new fire could break out on board due to the fact that water got on the batteries. This led to a loss of control, after which the San Juan began to rapidly sink to the bottom. At a critical depth, the submarine’s hull could be crushed by the water column. nine0003

The former commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Vyacheslav Popov, who led the operation to rescue the Kursk submarine, said that the Argentine submarine could have died due to hitting extreme depths, NSN reports.

“The depths in the Atlantic Ocean are measured in thousands of meters, which the submarine cannot dive. An Argentine submarine can dive to 200-300 meters, and there are thousands. If she is in an area with such depths and she is not on the surface, then the likelihood that she died as a result of falling to extreme depths is very high, ”said the military. nine0003

All about the San Juan Festival in Lloret de Mar

On the night of June 23, the San Juan Festival is celebrated, one of the most popular festivals in Catalonia. Bonfires in the squares and beaches of the cities, as well as the use of pyrotechnic materials such as firecrackers and fireworks, are the protagonists of this festival. Read on to find out all there is to do this year at night on San Juan in Lloret de Mar .

1. Recommendations

Although normality is starting to return and security measures have begun to loosen in Catalonia, it is especially important to exercise caution during the San Juan Festival.

For this reason, the Catalan Civil Protection Service has published the safety rules to be observed on this night, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and accidents caused by the misuse of pyrotechnic materials.

On the one hand, they urge people to avoid crowds in uncontrolled places and unorganized activities. They also recommend celebrating the party with small groups of friends and family, in addition to maintaining physical distance, using a mask, and following normal hygiene measures to prevent infections. In this San Juan, you can also buy firecrackers online and pick them up at the store by appointment. nine0003

On the other hand, in addition to the usual recommendations for the use of pyrotechnic materials (such as buying products from authorized establishments, not endangering anyone, and not using this type of material near areas with vegetation), a few recommendations related to the pandemic .

It’s especially important to remember at this San Juan festival that you don’t have to use hydroalcoholic gel if you want to manipulate fireworks, as they are flammable. It is advisable to use cotton masks instead of surgical masks, which are made of paper and polypropylene, not suitable materials combined with magnesium from pyrotechnics. nine0003

2.

Security measures

Today, dinners and social gatherings in public places are still limited to designated places, although city councils have the ability to create new spaces.

In both cases, the number of groups cannot exceed 10 people and a safety distance of one and a half meters must be observed. Catering establishments will have to comply with current opening hours (until 1 a.m.).

The Civil Protection Service recommends that only fires to minimize the number of visitors (groups up to 20 people).

3. San Juan in Lloret de Mar

In Lloret de Mar, on June 23, events will be held in an abbreviated format, subject to current security measures.

At 7 pm a group of cyclists will take Flama del Canigo (brought from the Pyrenees) to Plaza de la Vila. An institutional acceptance act by local authorities will be held, where a small manifesto will be read. nine0003

For health reasons, this year there will be neither the usual fire on the beach nor the traditional San Juan coca among the visitors.
