We are proud to be an eco-friendly operator, and are asking you to help by not using sunscreens with any of these ingredients: oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, clear zinc, or parabens. For a complete list, click here. These ingredients have been proven to hurt our reefs. You can learn more by reading this article released by NOAA. Please DO NOT trust a brand just because it claims to be ocean-friendly. Do your part to be an educated consumer, and read the ingredients on your products. We stand proudly behind options like Stream2Sea, who have developed sunscreens that are safe for our ocean. We stock Stream2Sea in our store for your convenience and for the health of our waters. If you are not sure if your sunscreen is safe, please feel free to ask us!

Dive Insurance

Hopefully you never experience a dive accident, but if you do, your primary medical insurance may exclude scuba diving as a hazardous recreational activity and/or may not provide coverage when you are traveling out of the country. If it does provide coverage, it may pay only a minimal amount for chamber treatments. There are also often large out-of-pocket payments for deductibles and co-pays. These alone can total thousands of dollars. Recognized worldwide, let Divers Alert Network (DAN) provide you with secondary coverage to ensure your peace of mind while diving. Sign up today!

Air Fills

Culebra Divers routinely conducts air quality testing with TRI Air Testing, Inc. As an AIHA accredited laboratory, they provide worldwide compressed air testing for fire service, scuba, OSHA, medical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food/beverage, industrial companies, and the Government/Military.

We provide quality air fills for our customers.  Please bring your C-card and ensure your tanks have a current Hydrostatic Test (every 5 years) and Visual Inspection (annually).  We encourage you to drop off your tanks early and allow us 24 hours turnaround time if possible.  Please note: we do NOT accept aluminum tanks manufactured prior to 1988.

Air Fills are $10 + tax for a standard 80 cu ft (11.1 liter) tank.  We do not currently offer Enriched Air / Nitrox / EANx fills.

Tank Visual Inspections

Culebra Divers staff members are certified in tank Visual Inspection Procedures (VIP) through Cylinder Training Services (CTS). We charge $35 for a visual inspection (includes fill) and request allowing a 24 hour turnaround time if possible.

World’s Best Diving Sites

Forbes Traveler magazine has published a list of the world’s best diving sites. The publication offers thirteen possible routes for memorable and comfortable diving.

Thailand – Phi Phi Islands

The best dive sites are near Hing Klang reef, between Phi Phi Don and Bamboo. Here you can admire tropical fish and soft corals, most often you come across girl fish, butterfly fish, parrot fish and angel fish, as well as anemone fish and various triggerfish.

Egypt – Safaga

Divers dive in a quiet bay with lots of coral reefs. Here you can meet clown and lion fish, anemone and moray fish, octopuses and cuttlefish. If you’re lucky, you might run into a dolphin. Just a few hours away is the famous Luxor with its tombs and temples.

Panama – San Blas Islands

The San Blas Reefs reach a length of 320 km. In the western region of the archipelago there are uninhabited islands where you can see not only corals, but also sunken ships. In the east of San Blas, you can dive into the clear water next to the uninhabited islands, admire the sponges and corals.

Puerto Rico – Culebra Island

Flamenco Beach is very popular among tourists, which is located in the north of Culebra, the largest island among the Spanish Virgin Islands. This place is traditional for parties and camping. Carlos Rosario Beach is one of the most popular dive sites in the Caribbean. While diving here you can see reef fish and corals.

Caicos and Turks (Salt Cay)

Colonies of coral reefs, stingrays and nurse sharks can be found in these waters. Near uninhabited islets, you can admire schools of fish, as well as the sunken British frigate Endymion. And in winter you can swim with humpback whales and listen to their singing.

US Virgin Islands

There are many wave-protected dive sites on the coast of Saint John. For beginners, Trunk Bay is recommended, while more advanced divers choose Haulover and Leinster Bays.

Hawaii – Oahu

The best dive sites in Hawaii are near Makaha Beaches on Oahu. Divers can meet numerous fish, sponges, corals near the beach or on one of the reefs, and with special luck you can see eagle rays, spotted dolphins and green sea turtles weighing about two hundred kilograms.

Indonesia – Bunaken National Marine Park

The park has a great biodiversity: invertebrates, corals and more than two and a half thousand species of fish. The park is located in the north of Sulawesi and was created in 1991 to protect large areas of intact coral reefs. 97% of its territory is located under water.

Australia – Great Barrier Reef

This huge range of coral islands and reefs stretches off the northeast coast of Australia for 2300 km and is equal in area to the state of California. The best places to dive are the Angicort Reefs, which are located on the outer side of the Barrier Reef. In addition, you can dive on the islands of Lady Eliot and Heron. There you can see manta rays, eagle rays, green sea turtles, corals, clams and reef fish.

USA – Florida freshwater springs

In underwater cave systems you can admire numerous fish, manatees, alligators. Largemouth bass, moonfish, chaintail catfish, tilapia and mullet are found in the waters of Silver Glen Springs, and armored fish and manatees are found in the Blue Spring.

Fiji Islands

This is a true diving paradise. Here you can meet coral thickets, various types of fish, giant clams, starfish, sea anemones, sea urchins.

French Polynesia – Rurutu Island

Underwater near the rocky island, divers can see and even hear the 40 ton humpback whale and meet seals.

Bahamas – Bimini Islands

These tiny islands have a wide range of dive sites with many reef fish and coral gardens, as well as the 86m Sapona that sank in 1926 and ran aground during a hurricane in the area. Big Bahama Bank, south of South Bimini Island.
