6 reasons to book an individual trip to Russia – RussiaDiscovery blog
The RussiaDiscovery collection includes more than 170 routes in Russia. All these tours are held in a group format – anyone can join a group, which, as a rule, gathers from 6 to 12 tourists.
However, there are times when you plan to travel but are not ready to travel with strangers. Or you want to change something in the program.
Or drive along a route that is not on our website. Let’s take a look at the most common reasons for choosing an individual trip and understand how we can be useful.
1. You know what you want
You like one of our trips, but would like to change something in the program. Please describe your wishes, we are ready to develop an individual trip plan for you.
In 90% of our tours you can change:
- dates
- route
- activities
- living conditions
- vehicles
- menu
- additional services
If you can’t go on weekdays, we will organize a trip on the weekend. If you don’t want to visit the museum, let’s go for a walk in the national park. If you don’t know how to ride a bike, we’ll order a jeep. Not ready for accommodation at the hostel – we will book a room in a 5-star hotel. If you don’t want to ride a minibus, we will provide a premium class car. If you prefer haute cuisine, we will send a chef with you. If you want to bring good pictures from your trip, we will invite a photographer.

Of course, not in all regions of Russia you can find a 5-star hotel. And not every premium car can handle off-road. But we will comment in detail on all your wishes and try to implement everything planned as much as possible.
2. You value privacy
If you want to spend a vacation or a weekend with your family or in a small circle of friends, it is logical to choose an individual tour instead of a group tour. It will be a little more expensive, more comfortable for you – on the trip you will only be with close people.
We organize trips for any number of people. You can go:
- one
- with family
- with friends
- with elderly parents
There can be any reasons for choosing an individual trip. Be alone with nature. Show children bears not in the zoo, but in Kamchatka. Take mom to Valaam. In all its glory, show your friends your historical homeland.
When traveling solo, you don’t have to stick to the timing and adjust to the rest of the group. In addition, you can ask all your questions to the guide and local residents, you do not have to share their attention with someone else.
For all our routes, the price for participation in the combined group is indicated. However, for many tours we have a miscalculation for ready-made groups of two people. If there is no such information for the route you are interested in, please write us the size of your group, we will prepare an individual calculation.

Most RussiaDiscovery tours are routes that are almost impossible to travel on your own. We organize trips to hard-to-reach places using SUVs, boats, helicopters and even icebreakers.
We try to include all the most interesting places in Russia in our collection. But there are regions where we do not do group tours:

How to triple (x3) the impressions from the trip? – I share a life hack! | Looking from the South
We always hope for the best. Including the fact that the next trip will give us a lot of positive emotions. And we will recoup our expenses for its preparation and holding with impressions.
Here I share an interesting life hack, which I noticed a long time ago, and which I have been using since then.
Once upon a time, in the late 90s, travel was planned simply and quickly – he came, bought the “All Italy” tour and flew off to soak up the emotions from being on the Apennine Peninsula. Not bothering before to enlighten their denseness.
And then, to our shame, when we were taken around the Vatican, Raphael’s stations were perceived from the lips of the guide as “Raphael’s station” and then I wondered to myself where this station was . … Only at home it dawned on me that I had to raise my head, look at the walls and ceiling…
Then somehow the group tours got fed up and I wanted something else. I had to dig a lot here and there. Maps, guides, reviews… To find out – what can be seen in general and how to see, what of the found attracted attention. At the same time, get to the next hotel in time and try something delicious from the local. Let’s go! And upon their return, in order not to repeat the same thing over and over to their friends and relatives, they wrote a report – where they were, what they saw. Filled it with pictures and maps for clarity.
And then suddenly discovered that impressions from such a careful approach are much larger and they are in fact tripled . Since then, even if we go on a group tour:
1. I carefully prepare the trip:
- what we fly on, where we arrive, where we check in, what the airport platform looks like, what the facade of the hotel looks like. Now GoogleStreetView allows a lot of things
- that they write about the booked hotel, about the sights of places available on the trip, about public transport. Where to visit – how to get there and how to get there and how much it costs,
- which of the food and drinks you should definitely try,
- what they write about local customs, peculiarities and what not to do there.
So, when I was preparing my trip to the States , I made a route for each day, placed start-finish points in the navigator. I added to them all the found sights worthy of attention. I figured out the travel time and the time that would be worth giving to each attraction. At first it was not easy, the darkness of time was being killed. Until I filled my hand and did not understand what, how and where to look. But in the end, the whole preparation of that 17-day tour took just over three weeks.
And, already while preparing , when while in your head and on paper you virtually pass everything from start to finish, the first impression of the journey 2 arises. It is still virtual, based on the photographs seen and the impressions of others – but this is already something whole, which then undergoes a reconciliation-comparison with the facts seen and felt later.
2. Actually impressions of the trip. The main thing here is not to forget to record impressions from the very beginning. Photo, video and on paper what cannot be conveyed by the camera. Everything is more or less clear here. The main thing here is not to stoop to turning shooting into an end in itself. So that the journey does not turn into a photo shoot, but still remains a journey.
3. Write a good report upon arrival. Good in the sense that you like it. It doesn’t matter for whom – for yourself, for your family or for general viewing on the network. One has only to take care of its safety – so that it can be shared immediately, in a month and after many years.
