Stayed at Hotel el Convento from September 1st and will be checking out today, I want to say the staff is so friendly and warm and welcoming. The hotel is very historical looking but the beds are very uncomfortable. I have to particularly point out three people that made our stay fantastic! Victor the bartender was the best bartender I have ever experienced, and I am from New York. His personality is amazing and his drinks were outstanding. Truly an asset to the hotel. Also, Kiara and Thanushka our waitresses were the best! Their personalities were so friendly and helpful. We laughed so much with them. I hope the hotel recognizes these three people as special employees because they were the three that made our stay phenomenal!

Very stylish hotel, the most cost-effective hotel in the entire stay. The location is very good, on the left is the second oldest church in the Americas, on the right is the Governor’s residence in Puerto Rico, 1 minute walk from the sea and 5 minutes walk from Morro Castle. Very recommended!

Pros: The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better location. They have a stunning lounge room with computer access, a bar and restaurant a small gym and rooftop pool. It’s very beautiful and clean. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were a good size. The drinks were good. When you check in they do try and make your experience extra sweet with some free ice cream cups (a cute touch but a little freezer burned).
This was a pretty quiet hotel and we didn’t have any noise issues even though there was a protest down the street- couldn’t hear much. Cons: When we got there, our room wasn’t clean and they told us they would call us when it was ready. We waited and waited and waited and finally just decided to check and clearly they forgot to call us because the room had been ready. That was annoying but they gave us two free drink tickets for the trouble. When we got into our room it was super hot because the air conditioning was broken but they sent someone in right away who was able to fix the issue. I think the biggest issues I had was that the maids will refuse to clean your room unless you tip them on a daily basis. I suppose I didn’t know that and wish it was posted somewhere because on many occasions I had to ask for fresh towels and for them to empty my trash. Once I started putting 5.00 on the bed they would clean. Food was okay but not the best and not a great selection. They also don’t have a vending machine which sucks… no snacks or soda available and good luck finding a local walkable restaurant that serves food after 12am.
I would recommend grabbing snacks for your hotel at the supermarket which is down the street. The hotel does have a fridge but you’d have to ask the front desk to warm up any food because they don’t have a microwave in the room. Overall the hotel was beautiful and I would absolutely stay again knowing what I know now.

We stayed at the Fortaleza for two nights during our family holiday. There were 3 bedrooms with plenty of space for all six of us to have some privacy. The kitchen was huge and we prepared 2 delicious family dinners there. There are balconies overlooking the old San Juan streets. There are many sites, shops, restaurants within walking distance so the location in Old San Juan is perfect for those that want to stay close to the accommodation. We arrived early in the morning and we were able to store our luggage for the day while we walked around town. The downside is the parking is not onsite, but it is in a garage within walking distance.

We loved our 1 night stay here. Our room was quite large and perfect for our family of 4. The location was central allowing us to easily walk around the area. The decor through out was fun, colorful and had some intresting details. There is lots of roof top seating and great views of the surrounding area. The staff here is great and our check in was a breeze. When we were a little lost trying to find our room a gentleman came to our rescue and escorted us to our room even helping us with our luggage! Unfortunately for me I woke up the next morning with an issue with my eye. I needed to get medical help immediately. The woman at the front desk was a huge help locating the right doctor for me to go to and spoke directly with the office to explain my situation. Sadly I did not get her name but she saved the day!

This is the first time to check in again 2 days after check-in. The hotel is in the old town. It is a historical building. The first and second floors are very beautiful, and it is very old Spanish. Right next to the large cruise ship 🚢 pier, different cruise ships can come and go every day. Cruises can be enjoyed from the restaurant balcony on the second floor and the swimming pool on the top floor. The room is not small, the service is good, free apple clams every day, the buffet breakfast is not rich in China, but it is no problem to eat full, and the taste is more suitable for Americans.
The best choice for visiting the old town.

The room was ok. the AC was not working well when i arrived and they had someone work on it very quickly. i will say that since this room faces the mid to end of day sun you should get an AC unit that is a little stronger. I had to keep my shades drwn down if i wanted the room to stay cool. Now that being said this is my second stay here at the Aloft Hotel and The front desk staff especially Esteffany Lafontaine and the other staff here at the Hotel are amazing, very attentive. they remembered me from my last stay and always greet you with a smile. It is a very busy hotel. the District has great food all around. I would recomend this hotel for anyone vacationing in PR. As a Lifetime Titanium and Ambasador Elite member I would think the welcome oints would be more then 500
